Not the busiest week in music, but I’m all about quality over quantity. And there was some seriously quality music coming out last week. Everything from folk albums, to remix EP’s, to unlikely collaborations and unexpected singles. This week gave us a little taste of everything.

Lupe Fiasco has been number one in my book of hip-hop artists for almost a decade. What I always loved most about him were his story telling abilities. His lyrical content always sent a message and served a purpose. This track featuring Lupe, Mikkey Halsted, and Jim Lavigne was dropped in response to the increase of violence going on in Chicago, as well as the nation as a whole. With such a powerful message, to be able to turn into such a fantastic song is really amazing. And although I don’t know much about Mikkey and Jim, I couldn’t think of a better artist to get on board for this project than Lupe.

Such a great song with such a great message. Give it a careful listen.
